Marija's boyfriend vanished after a mental breakdown. The girl sets off on a search: she wanders chaotically through the streets of Vilnius, constantly checking the guy's social networks and calling his friends. The longer the main character's scurry continues, the more she spirals into madness, and the line between love and self-sacrifice is almost totally blurred: Marija's desire to save a person who does not seem to need saving is so unwavering that she will stop at nothing. In his intense film that sweeps you off your feet, director Andrius Blaževicius projects the story of two people's unhealthy relationship onto an entire nation — almost stepping on the territory of magical realism. Lithuanian actress Žygimante Jakštaite earned the European Shooting Star 2021 award for her performance in "Runner".
