International Debut Competition

For the second year in a row, the Northern Lights Film Festival is holding an international competition for debut films. This time, it features seven films by directors from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Shot in a variety of formats—from gonzo-documentaries to teen dramedies—they offer a fresh perspective on social issues, family relationships, art, and coming of age. Most of the films presented in the competition have been recognized with awards and nominations at major festivals: Venice International Film Festival, Locarno, CPH:DOX, and Göteborg Film Festival.
