Geri is a high school senior living in an orphanage in the provincial Bulgarian town of Vratsa. She dreams of attending university to study social services so she can help other abandoned children like herself. Final exams are approaching, and for Geri, they mean much more than for everyone else—because after graduating, she will have to leave the orphanage. She reflects on her past life with her stepbrother and the domestic violence that led to the breakup of her family. Geri wants to find out why her parents abandoned her and why she never ended up with foster parents, but she is unsure whether she should invite her mother to the graduation ceremony. Geri also has an ex-boyfriend who wanted her to drop out of school and move to Germany with him. Her everyday life is full of hopes and small joys, but soon new twists of fate await her. Will she be able to face them and avoid repeating the mistakes of the adults she knew?
