Ashley Smith, originally from the United States, has degrees in Cinema Studies from Suffolk University in Boston, USA and Stockholm University in Sweden. In 2018, she published her PhD dissertation on contemporary uses for archival home movies. Two years ago, she joined Sisyfos Film Production, an independent production company based in Stockholm, Sweden that produces high-profile documentaries. Along with Mario Adamson, she is currently producing the feature documentaries The Scars of Ali Boulala (directed by Max Eriksson), Elevated (directed by Gustav Littorin), and The Afterlife of Karen Dalton (directed by Charlotta Hayes). Ashley also teaches courses in cinema studies at Stockholm University and has a background in film festivals, such as the Stockholm International Film Festival and Uppsala International Short Film Festival in Sweden.
